As far back as 2006 Democratic
Labour Party (DLP) candidate for St George South, Dr Esther
Byer-Suckoo, has promised constituents that proper representation
will be high among her priorities. "We need proper political
representation and I know I can do it.
You want representation you can see, representation
you can hear . . . . You want representation by someone who
will represent the constituency in Parliament," she said.
The medical practitioner pointed to the benefits Barbadians like
her gained thanks to "Barrow free education", adding that
the constituency deserved the DLP, a party which cared about people.
Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo stressed she was not about
promises, but rather stood for action and was prepared to stay the
course until the various tasks related to uplifting the people and
the constituency had been completed. She noted that a number of people
had in the past made empty, meaningless promises.
Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo, Minister of Sports who is also
the Minister of Family, Youth Affairs and the Environment, said the
Government was committed to developing sport as a major socio-economic
sector.
SPORTING CLUBS and organisations will soon be benefiting
from a pledge of the new Government to waive duties and VAT on training
