Philip Peters from Nashville Metro Ministry in Haiti Christmas 2005

JamaicaIn 1997, a bright eyed 17 year old named Philip Peters left the farm of Indiana for a 3 week mission trip to Jamaica with Teen Mania. The teams hit the mission field during the day and spent the evenings at Caribbean Christ For the Nations Institute in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

While there he met a Haitian student named Jean Gerald Lafleur. As Philip went back to finish secondary school and attend university their friendship stayed in tact. He would send CDs and letters; and as the world progressed to internet the communication continued as it was a Kingdom Partnership.

In July 2004 Philip really felt stirred to bring a group of 20 year olds to visit and assist Pastor in ministry. “Every time I spoke with someone there just seemed to be a need to do mission work and with Pastor Lafleur’s promotion of the 365 beaches in Antigua; it wasn't hard to pull a team together” says Philip.

I understood that Pastor has a special heart for Haiti, his homeland. Although many people discouraged me from going there, God was constantly calling me to take a trip to Jacmel Haiti in 2005. Having obeyed the voice of God, I am now hooked on the country and plan to lead more teams to Jacmel.
