Session #3 - The Rise and Fall of the Antichrist
              - Bible Verse Hand Book

Session 3 The Rise and Fall of the Antichrist (Dan. 7:15-28)
            I. OUTLINE OF DANIEL
            A. 1. Interpretation (Part 1): Victory is assured
            a. Daniel’s response to the vision
15 “I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that
passed through my mind disturbed me. (Dan. 7:15)
            b. Daniel’s first question
16 I approached one of those standing there and asked him the meaning
              of all this.
               (Dan. 7:16)
            c. Interpretation of the four beasts
17 ‘The four great beasts are four kings that will rise from
              the earth. (Dan. 7:17)
            d. The saints as world rulers
18 But the holy people of the Most High will receive the kingdom
and will possess it forever—yes, for ever and ever.’
              (Dan. 7:18)
            2. Interpretation (Part 2): Prepared to rule through martyrdom

            a. Daniel’s second question:
19“I wished to know the truth [implications] about
the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly
dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, which
              devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet;
20and the ten horns that were on its head [ten nation confederation],
and the other horn [Antichrist] which came up, before which
three fell [three kings killed], namely, that horn which
had eyes [supernatural intelligence] and a mouth which
spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.”
              (Dan. 7:19-20)
            b. Antichrist permitted to kill the saints
21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people
              and defeating them, (Dan. 7:21)
            c. God suddenly reverses all things
22 until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor
of the holy people of the Most High, and the time came when they
              possessed the kingdom. (Dan. 7:22)
            3. Interpretation (Part 3): The fourth beast, 10 horns,
              and the little horn
            a. The fourth beast
23 “He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast
is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different
from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling
it down and crushing it. (Dan. 7:23)
            10 horns (10 kings)
24 The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.
              (Dan. 7:24a)
            The little horn (The Antichrist)
After them another king will arise, different from the earlier
ones; he will subdue three kings. 25 He will speak against the Most
High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times
and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for
a time, times and half a time. (Dan. 7:24b-25)
            b. The destruction of the Antichrist
26 “‘But the court will sit, and his power will be
taken away and completely destroyed forever. (Dan. 7:26)
            c. God’s kingdom forever ruled by the saints
27 Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms
under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most
High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers
will worship and obey him.’ (Dan. 7:27)
            4. Daniel’s response
28 “This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply
troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the
              matter to myself.” (Dan. 7:28)
            II. OVERVIEW OF DANIEL
The Ancient of Days sitting on His all-powerful throne

9 “As I looked, “thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
              His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
10 A river of fire was flowing,
              coming out from before him.
              Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
              The court was seated,
and the books were opened. (Dan.7:9-10)
The triumph of the Son of Man.
13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was
one like a son of man,[a] coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached
the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given
authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of
every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion
that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never
              be destroyed. (Dan.7:13-14)
The total defeat of the Antichrist
11 “Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words
the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain
and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. 12 (The
other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed
to live for a period of time.) (Dan.7:11-12)
15 “I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that
passed through my mind disturbed me.
28 “This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply
troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the
              matter to myself.” (Dan.7:15, 28)
            IV. FIRST QUESTION: VICTORY ASSURED
16 I approached one of those standing there and asked him the meaning
of all this. “So he told me and gave me the interpretation
of these things: 17“Those great beasts, which are four, are
four kings which arise out of the earth.
18But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and
possess the kingdom, forever…” (Dan. 7:16-18)
The False Prophet is described as “coming out of
              the earth”
11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two
horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. (Rev. 13:11)
The Antichrist “rises up out of the sea”
1The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming
out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns
on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. (Rev.
              13:1)
10…and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we
shall reign on the earth. (Rev.5:10)
            V. SECOND QUESTION: FOURTH BEAST, TEN HORNS, AND ANOTHER
              HORN
19“I wished to know the truth [implications] about
the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly
dreadful, with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze, which
              devoured, broke in pieces, and trampled the residue with its feet;
20and the ten horns that were on its head [ten nation confederation],
and the other horn[Antichrist] which came up, before which
three fell [three kings killed], namely, that horn which
had eyes [supernatural intelligence] and a mouth which
spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.”
              (Dan. 7:19-20)
Compare (Dan. 7: 19-20) to what Daniel saw earlier in his
vision about the fourth beast and the ten horns, and the other horn
              (Dan. 7:7-8)
7“A fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong.
It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces…It
was different from all the beasts…it had ten horns…8there
was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom
three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. There, in
this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking
              pompous words.” (Dan. 7:7-8)
            A fourth beast:
12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet
received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority
as kings along with the beast. 13 They have one purpose and will
give their power and authority to the beast. (Rev. 17:12-13)
Different: The Antichrist’s empire will be energized
              by demonic power
2The dragon [Satan] gave him [Antichrist] his
power, his throne, and great authority.
13He performs great signs…he even makes fire come down from
              heaven (Rev. 13:2, 13)
            Exceedingly dreadful:
7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there
before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and
very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured
its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different
from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns. (Dan.
              7:7)
15 “I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that
passed through my mind disturbed me. (Dan. 7:15)
The other horn: This horn is the Antichrist.
8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me
was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three
of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like
the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
11 “Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words
the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain
and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire.
20 I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about
the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the
horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes
and a mouth that spoke boastfully. 21 As I watched, this horn was
waging war against the holy people and defeating them. (Dan.
              7:8, 11, 20, 21)
            Ten horns on its head:
24 The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.
              After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones;
he will subdue three kings. (Dan. 7:24)
3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon
with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. (Rev.
              12:3)
1The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming
out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns
on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. (Rev.
              13:1)
3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness.
There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered
with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
7 Then the angel said to me: “Why are you astonished? I will
explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides,
which has the seven heads and ten horns.
12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet
received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority
as kings along with the beast.
16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute.
They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her
flesh and burn her with fire. (Rev. 17:3, 7, 12, 16)
            Which came up:
8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me
was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three
of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like
the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully. (Dan.
              7:8)
Appearance was greater than his fellows:
21“I was watching; and the same horn was making war against
the saints, and prevailing against them, 22until the Ancient of
Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the
Most High, the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.”

               (Dan. 7:21-22)
            Making war against the saints:
9“They will…kill you, and you will be hated by all
nations for My name’s sake.” (Mt. 24:9)
            Prevailing against the saints:
7It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome
them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and
              nation. (Rev. 13:7)
11“And they overcame him [Satan] by the blood of
the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love
their lives to the death.” (Rev. 12:10-11)
            The time came:
35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined,
purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will
still come at the appointed time. (Dan. 11:35)
10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked
will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand,
but those who are wise will understand.
              (Dan. 12:10)
The Father knows the amount of time needed for the combination
of persecution and the manifestation of His glory on the end-time
Church to bring it to full maturity and to bring Israel to salvation

13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of
the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure
of the fullness of Christ. (Eph. 4:13)
27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain
or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
              (Eph. 5:27)
VI. INTERPRETATION OF THE FOURTH BEAST, TEN HORNS, AND
              THE HORN
            Fourth beast:
23“Thus he [angel] said: ‘The fourth beast shall be
a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different [unique] from
all other kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, trample it
and break it in pieces.’” (Dan. 7:23)
            The ten horns:
24“The ten horns are ten kings who shall arise from this
              kingdom. And another shall rise after them [Antichrist];
he shall be different from the first ones [ten kings],
and shall subdue [kill] three kings.” (Dan.

Daniel saw the ten horns as being “on” the
              beast’s head
20 I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about
the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the
horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes
and a mouth that spoke boastfully. (Dan. 7:20)
Earlier, Daniel saw these ten kings as ten toes
41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked
clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet
it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw
iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly
clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
              (Dan. 2:41-42)
            Another shall rise after them:
12The ten horns which you saw are ten kings…13These are of
one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast
              [Antichrist]. (Rev. 17:12–13)
Characteristics of the horn, or the Antichrist
25“He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall
persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change
times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for
a time and times and half a time [3½ years].” (Dan.
              7:25)
A time and times and half a time:
            1,260 days
3 And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for
1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” (Rev. 11:3)
6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her
by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days. (Rev.12:6)
            42 months
2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has
been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for
              42 months. (Rev. 11:2)
5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies
and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. (Rev.
              13:5)
“Time, times, and half a time”
25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people
and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will
be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time. (Dan.
              7:25)
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river,
lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard
him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for
a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people
has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”
              (Dan. 12:7)
14 The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that
she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where
she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out
of the serpent’s reach. (Rev. 12:14)
             “The middle of the week”
27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’
In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice
and offering. And at the temple[j] he will set up an abomination
that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured
              out on him. (Dan. 9:27)
In this first vision in 553 BC, the Lord showed Daniel
              the great suffering to come.
35“Some of those of understanding shall fall [martyrdom],
to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time
              of the end…” (Dan. 11:35)
10“Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the
wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand,
but the wise shall understand.” (Dan. 12:10)
The Ancient of Days has already decreed the destruction
              of the Antichrist
26“But the court shall be seated, and they shall take away
his [Antichrist’s] dominion, to consume and destroy it forever.”
              (Dan. 7:26)
            Take away his dominion:
27“Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the
kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the
saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.” (Dan.
              7:27)
The saints will replace the leadership of the beast empire:
21To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne…
              (Rev. 3:21)
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our
God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Rev. 5:10)
24Father, I desire that they whom You gave Me may be with Me where
I am, that they may behold [see and experience] My glory
which You have given Me… (Jn. 17:24)
