The Antichrist: His Role in the End-Times Part 1
            I. THE ANTICHRIST AND THE TRIBULATION: THE CHURCH’S
              GREATEST HOUR
7 For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made
              herself ready. (Rev. 19:7)
27 He might present her…a glorious church, not having spot
              or wrinkle… (Eph. 5:27)
2 I saw…those who have the victory over the Beast…standing
              on the sea of glass…
              (Rev. 15:2)
            C. The Great Tribulation
3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will
not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a]
is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. (2 Thes. 2:3)
1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon
the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences
have been seared as with a hot iron. (1 Tim. 4:1-2)
21 Then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since
the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 Unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved (physically
preserved); for the elect’s sakes those days will be
              shortened. (Mt. 24:21-22)
1 The Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart
from the faith... (1 Tim. 4:1)
            D. The Tribulation
8 Power was given to them over a fourth of the earth to kill with
              sword… (Rev. 6:8)
15The four angels… were released to kill a third of mankind.
              (Rev. 9:15)
II. UNDERSTANDING THE SCRIPTURAL TERM “ANTICHRIST”
24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform
great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
              (Mt. 24:24)
22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears
the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of
wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. (Mk. 13:22)
            D. All four specific references to the antichrist are by
              the Apostle John
18 The Antichrist is coming even now many antichrists have come…
              (1 Jn. 2:18)
3 Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come
in the flesh is not of God. This is the spirit of the Antichrist
which… is now already in the world. (1 Jn. 4:3)
22 He is Antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. (1
              John 2:22)
            E. John referred to many antichrists
18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard
that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come.
This is how we know it is the last hour. (1 Jn. 2:18)
Examples of those considered to be antichrists by Church

20 “His successor will send out a tax collector to maintain
the royal splendor. In a few years, however, he will be destroyed,
yet not in anger or in battle.
21 “He will be succeeded by a contemptible person who has
not been given the honor of royalty. He will invade the kingdom
when its people feel secure, and he will seize it through intrigue.
22 Then an overwhelming army will be swept away before him; both
it and a prince of the covenant will be destroyed. 23 After coming
to an agreement with him, he will act deceitfully, and with only
a few people he will rise to power. 24 When the richest provinces
feel secure, he will invade them and will achieve what neither his
fathers nor his forefathers did. He will distribute plunder, loot
and wealth among his followers. He will plot the overthrow of fortresses—but
              only for a time.
25 “With a large army he will stir up his strength and courage
against the king of the South. The king of the South will wage war
with a large and very powerful army, but he will not be able to
stand because of the plots devised against him. 26 Those who eat
from the king’s provisions will try to destroy him; his army
will be swept away, and many will fall in battle. 27 The two kings,
with their hearts bent on evil, will sit at the same table and lie
to each other, but to no avail, because an end will still come at
the appointed time. 28 The king of the North will return to his
own country with great wealth, but his heart will be set against
the holy covenant. He will take action against it and then return
              to his own country.
29 “At the appointed time he will invade the South again,
but this time the outcome will be different from what it was before.
30 Ships of the western coastlands will oppose him, and he will
lose heart. Then he will turn back and vent his fury against the
holy covenant. He will return and show favor to those who forsake
              the holy covenant.
31 “His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple
fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set
up the abomination that causes desolation. 32 With flattery he will
corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who
know their God will firmly resist him.
33 “Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time
they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered.
34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who
are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble,
so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the
time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
            The King Who Exalts Himself
36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify
himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the
God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed,
for what has been determined must take place. 37 He will show no
regard for the gods of his ancestors or for the one desired by women,
nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all.
38 Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses; a god unknown
to his ancestors he will honor with gold and silver, with precious
              stones and costly gifts.
39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign
god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make
them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.
40 “At the time of the end the king of the South will engage
him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against
him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will
invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. 41 He
will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but
Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand.
42 He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not
escape. 43 He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver
and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cushites in submission.
44 But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he
will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many. 45
He will pitch his royal tents between the seas at the beautiful
holy mountain. Yet he will come to his end, and no one will help
              him. (Dan. 11:20-45)
III. THE ANTICHRIST AS A LITERAL MAN
            A. The Antichrist is the final world ruler in this age.

7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes
up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.
              (Rev. 11:7)
7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against
the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage
war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s
commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus. (Rev.12:7,
              17)
4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to
the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who
is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”
7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people
and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe,
people, language and nation (Rev. 13:4, 7)
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse,
whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges
              and wages war. (Rev. 19:11)
21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people
              and defeating them, (Dan. 7:21)
26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will
be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who
will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will
come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations
              have been decreed. (Dan. 9:26)
19 The beast, the kings of the earth…gathered to make war
              against Him… (Rev. 19:19)
14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome
              them. (Rev. 17:14)
            B. The title of the Antichrist as the End-Time world leader

18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard
that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come.
This is how we know it is the last hour. (1 Jn. 2:18)
              The little horn
8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me
was another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three
of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like
the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully. (Dan.
              7:8)
            A king
23 “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become
completely wicked, a fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue,
              will arise. (Dan. 8:23)
36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify
himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the
God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed,
for what has been determined must take place. (Dan. 11:36)
            One who makes desolate
27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’
In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice
and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that
causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on
              him.” (Dan. 9:27)
            The worthless shepherd
16 For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will
not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or
feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing
off their hooves. 17 “Woe to the worthless shepherd,
              who deserts the flock!
May the sword strike his arm and his right eye!
May his arm be completely withered,
his right eye totally blinded!” (Zech. 11:16-17)
            C. The Antichrist’s most prominent name in Scripture
              is the Beast
7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that
comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill
              them. (Rev. 11:7)
1 The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming
out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns
on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. (Rev.
              13:1)
9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If
anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on
their forehead or on their hand, (Rev. 14:9)
2 The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and
ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of
the beast and worshiped its image. (Rev. 16:2)
3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness.
There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered
with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. (Rev.
              17:3)
20 But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who
had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded
those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning
              sulfur. (Rev.19:20)
10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of
burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown.
They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Rev.
              20:10)
            D. The Man of sin
The Son of Perdition Let no one deceive you by any means; for that
Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man
of [b]sin is revealed, the son of perdition, (2 Thes. 2:
              3)
The Lawless one And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom
the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with
the brightness of His coming. (2 Thes. 2: 8)

              E. The most descriptive passages on the Antichrist
9 And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly
great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the Glorious
Land. 10 And it grew up to the host of heaven; and it cast down
some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled
              them. 11 He even exalted himself as high as the Prince of the host;
and by him the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of
His sanctuary was cast down. 12 Because of transgression, an army
was given over to the horn to oppose the daily sacrifices; and he
cast truth down to the ground. He did all this and prospered. (Dan.
              8:9-12)
            F. The Antichrist will be fully human yet fully demonized.

2 The dragon (Satan) gave him his power, his throne, and
              great authority. (Rev. 13:2)
7 The Beast (Antichrist) that ascends out of the bottomless
pit will make war… (Rev. 11:7)
8 The Beast…will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go
              to perdition. (Rev. 17:8)
            G. The Antichrist will claim to be God
3 All the world marveled and followed the beast. (Rev.
              13:3)
8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him… (Rev.
              13:8)
            H. The counterfeit trinity consists of Satan, Antichrist
              and the False Prophet
1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising
up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his
horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 2 Now the
beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet
of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave
him his power, his throne, and great authority.
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he
had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. (Rev.
              13:1-2, 11)
            I. The Antichrist’s political reign will last for
              at least seven years
            27 Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.” (Dan. 9:27)
            J. The Antichrist's worldwide empire will include 4 main
              components:
            1. Political
1Then I stood on the sand of the sea.
15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast,
that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many
as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. (Rev.
              13:1-2, 15)
            2. Military force
7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome
them. And authority was given him over every [d]tribe, tongue, and
              nation. (Rev. 13: 7)
            3. Economic
16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and
slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or
the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Rev.
              16-17)
Religious control to establish a worldwide satanic worship
              movement
            4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast;
and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast?
Who is able to make war with him?”
8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have
not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the
              foundation of the world.
9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 He who leads into captivity
shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed
with the sword. Here is the [e]patience and the faith of the saints.
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he
had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises
all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes
the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast,
whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that
he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight
of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those
signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling
those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was
wounded by the sword and lived. (Rev. 13:4, 8-14)
            K. The Antichrist’s primary activities
21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people
              and defeating them,
25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people
and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will
be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time. (Dan.
              7:21, 25)
24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will
cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does.
He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people. 25 He will
cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior.
When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against
the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human
              power. (Dan. 8:24 – 25)
(Dan.
              11:33-35)
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river,
lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard
him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for
a time, times and half a time.[b] When the power of the holy people
has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.”

8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord,
what will the outcome of all this be?”
9 He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are
rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be
purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue
to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who
are wise will understand. (Dan. 12:7-10)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls
of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony
they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How
long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants
of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then each of them was
given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer,
until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and
sisters, were killed just as they had been. (Rev. 6:9-11)
7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes
up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.
              (Rev. 11:7)
7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people
and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe,
              people, language and nation.
15 The second beast was given power to give breath to the image
of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all
who refused to worship the image to be killed. (Rev. 13:7,
              15)
6 I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of God’s
holy people, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. (Rev.
              17:6a)
24 In her was found the blood of prophets and of God’s holy
              people,
of all who have been slaughtered on the earth.” (Rev.18:24)
            L. The Antichrist’s 10-nation confederation
44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set
up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to
another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them
to an end, but it will itself endure forever (Dan. 2:44)
7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there
before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and
very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured
its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different
from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns. (Dan.
              7:7)
12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet
received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority
as kings along with the beast. (Rev. 17:12)
24 His power shall be mighty…he shall destroy the mighty…
              (Dan. 8:24)
            M. The Antichrist will be helped by the loyal service of
              the False Prophet
14 Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf
of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It
ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded
by the sword and yet lived. 15 The second beast was given power
to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image
could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be
killed. 16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and
poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or
              on their foreheads, (Rev. 13:14-16)
             N. Summary of the coming Antichrist
            1. Military Genius (tactics/strategy)
2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held
a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror
              bent on conquest. (Rev. 6:2)
2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those
of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast
his power and his throne and great authority.
16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free
and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,
17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark,
which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Rev.13:2,16-17)
24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will
cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does.
He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people.
25 He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself
superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his
stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but
not by human power. (Dan. 8:24 – 25)
38 Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses; a god unknown
to his ancestors he will honor with gold and silver, with precious
stones and costly gifts. 39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses
with the help of a foreign god and will greatly honor those who
acknowledge him. He will make them rulers over many people and will
distribute the land at a price. (Dan. 11:38-39)
            2. Oratorical Genius (moves masses of people)

32 With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant,
but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.
36 “The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify
himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the
God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed,
for what has been determined must take place. (Dan. 11:32,
              36)
23 “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become
completely wicked, a fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue,
              will arise. (Dan. 8:23)
            3. Political Genius (diplomacy)
8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all
whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life,
the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.
12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf,
and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast,
whose fatal wound had been healed. (Rev. 13:8, 12)
11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He
belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.
12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received
a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings
along with the beast. (Rev. 17:11-12)
23 “He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast
is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different
from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling
it down and crushing it. (Dan. 7:23)
            4. Commercial Genius (prosperity)
43 He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and
all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cushites in submission.
44 But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he
will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many. 45
He will pitch his royal tents between the seas at[f] the beautiful
holy mountain. Yet he will come to his end, and no one will help
              him. (Dan. 11:43 - 45)
16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free
and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads,
17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark,
which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Rev.
              13:16-17)
9 Out of one of them came another horn, which started small but
grew in power to the south and to the east and toward the Beautiful
              Land.
Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human
              power. (Dan. 8:9, 24-25)
            5. Religious Genius (doctrines and history)
4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is
called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s
temple, proclaiming himself to be God. (2 Thes. 2:4)
4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to
the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who
is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”
(Rev. 13:4, 8, 12)
            6. Intellectual Genius (science, math, technology, languages,
              etc.)
25 He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people
and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will
be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time (Dan.
              7:25)
            7. Occult Genius (demonology, miracles, human sacrifice)

24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will
cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does.
He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people. (Dan.
              8:24)
39 He will attack the mightiest fortresses with the help of a foreign
god and will greatly honor those who acknowledge him. He will make
them rulers over many people and will distribute the land at a price.
              (Dan. 11:39)
IV. GOD RAISES UP THE ANTICHRIST
            B. Jesus has all power and authority in heaven and over
              the nations on earth.
18 Jesus spoke saying, "All authority has been given to Me
in heaven and on earth.” (Mt. 28:18)
20 He (the Father)…seated Him (Jesus) at His right
hand…21 far above all principality and power and might and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but
also in that which is to come. 22 He put all things under His feet.
              (Eph. 1:20-22)
1 There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that
exist are appointed by God. (Rom. 13:1)
            C. Jesus shall raise up the Antichrist and grant him authority
              for 3½ years
16 For indeed I will raise up a shepherd (Antichrist) in
the land (Israel) who will not care for those who are cut
off (killed)…but he will eat the flesh of the fat
and tear their hooves in pieces. 17 Woe to the worthless shepherd…his
arm shall completely wither… (Zech. 11:16-17)
5 And he (Antichrist) was given a mouth speaking great
things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for
forty-two months….7 It was granted to him to make war with
the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over
every tribe, tongue, and nation…15 He was granted power to
give breath to the image of the beast... (Rev. 13:5, 7,
              15)
25 He (Antichrist) shall speak pompous words against the
Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High…then
the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and
half a time (3½ years). 26 The court shall be seated,
and they shall take away his dominion…27 Then the kingdom…shall
be given to…the saints of the Most High.
              (Dan. 7:25-27)
            D. The Devil also gives the Antichrist his power and authority.
2 The dragon (Satan) gave him his power, his throne, and
              great authority. (Rev. 13:2)
Satan's two main purposes in giving the Antichrist power:
To lead a global worship movement
4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to
the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who
is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”
8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all
whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life,
the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.
              (Rev. 13:4, 8)
            To exterminate the Jewish people
8 In the whole land,” declares the LORD, “two-thirds
will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it.
9 This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver
              and test them like gold.
              They will call on my name and I will answer them;
I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say,
‘The LORD is our God.’” (Zech. 13:8-9)
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down
              to you!
He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
13 When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he
pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. 14 The
woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might
fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would
be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s
reach. 15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river,
to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent. 16 But
the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the
river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.
17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage
war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s
commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus. (Rev.
              12:12-17)
So a believing remnant cannot invite Jesus back to Jerusalem
              as their King
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone
those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children
together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were
not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For
I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
              (Mt. 23:37-39).
            F. Pressure in the Great Tribulation will come from four
              sources:
God’s wrath against the Antichrist’s kingdom.
7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels
seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever
              and ever. (Rev. 15:7)
            Satan’s rage against the saints
12 Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them!
But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down
              to you!
He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
              (Rev. 12:12)
Man’s sin as seen in evil acts against one another

21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their
sexual immorality or their thefts. (Rev. 9:21)
9 God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through…Jesus…
              (1 Thes. 5:9)
            V. WHY WILL GOD RAISE UP THE ANTICHRIST?
33 The people who understand shall instruct many; yet for many
days they shall fall (die) by sword and flame, by captivity...35
Some of those of understanding shall fall (die), to refine
them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end.
              (Dan. 11:33-35)
10 Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked
shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but
the wise shall understand. (Dan. 12:10)
            B. The Tribulation provides the optimum context to bring
              in the Great Harvest
9 A great multitude which no one could number, of all nations…standing
before the Throne…14 These are the ones who come out of the
              great tribulation… (Rev. 7:9, 14)
            F. Summary: God will use the Tribulation to purify His
              Church as a Bride:
27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain
or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. (Eph.
              5:27)
7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself
              ready. (Rev. 19:7)
To usher in a great Ingathering of souls and Israel’s
              salvation
26 and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:
“The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness
              away from Jacob. (Rom. 11:26)
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude
that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language,
standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing
white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And
they cried out in a loud voice:
“Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne,
              and to the Lamb.”
11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the
elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces
before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:
“Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever.
              Amen!”
13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who
are they, and where did they come from?”
14 I answered, “Sir, you know.”
And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great
tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in
the blood of the Lamb. (Rev. 7:9-14)
To expose false believers within the Church
3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will
not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a]
is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and
will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped,
so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself
              to be God.
5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell
you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so
that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power
of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it
back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And
then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will
overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor
of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance
with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power
through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways
that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because
they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason
God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the
lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the
truth but have delighted in wickedness. (2 Thes. 2:3-12)
1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon
the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences
have been seared as with a hot iron. (1 Tim. 4:1-2)
To cleanse the earth from sin before the Millennial Kingdom

1 See, the LORD is going to lay waste the earth and devastate
              it;
he will ruin its face and scatter its inhabitants—
2 it will be the same
              for priest as for people,
for the master as for his servant,
for the mistress as for her servant,
              for seller as for buyer,
              for borrower as for lender,
              for debtor as for creditor.
3 The earth will be completely laid waste and totally plundered.
The LORD has spoken this word.
4 The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers,
the heavens languish with the earth.
5 The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws,
violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant.
6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their
              guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up, and very few
              are left. (Isa. 24:1-6)
1“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David
and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity.
2 “On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from
the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the
LORD Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit
of impurity from the land . ( Zech. 13:1-2)
VI. WHY WE MUST UNDERSTAND WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS ABOUT THE
              ANTICHRIST
            A. Daniel prophesied that the wise would understand in
              the End-Times
10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked
will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand,
but those who are wise will understand.
              (Dan. 12:10)
            B. Those with understanding will be in peace
10 The day of the Lord will come as a thief…both the earth
and the works that are in it will be burned up…14 Therefore…be
diligent to be found by Him in peace… (2 Pet. 3:10,
              14)
            C. Those with understanding of the End-Time Scriptures
              will intercede
12 “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to
              me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.”
13 Rend your heart and not your garments.
Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending
              calamity.
14 Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing—
grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God.
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred
              assembly.
16 Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the
              elders,
gather the children, those nursing at the breast.
Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.
17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the
              portico and the altar.
Let them say, “Spare your people, LORD. Do not make your inheritance
              an object of scorn,
              a byword among the nations.
Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”
18 Then the LORD was jealous for his land and took pity on his people.
              (Joel 2:12-18)
            D. Our prayers will change history and lead many to salvation
              and protection. (Exod 7-12)
            F. Paul taught that the End-Time destruction will come
              suddenly
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so
comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, "Peace
and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor
pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. (1
              Thes. 5:2-3)
            G. The Church has a spirit of blindness related to the
              Antichrist
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so
that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory
of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Cor. 4:4).
9 The coming of the lawless one (Antichrist) is according
to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,
              10 and with all unrighteous deception… (2 Thes. 2:9-10)
            H. We must have understanding about the Antichrist
9 If anyone worships the Beast (Antichrist) and his image…10
he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of
the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 The smoke of
their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day
or night, who worship the Beast and his image, and whoever receives
              the mark of his name.
              (Rev. 14:9-11)
            I. The Antichrist, the False Prophet and their armies will
              surely be defeated by Jesus
16 Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew
              is called Armageddon. (Rev. 16:16)
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse,
whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges
and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head
are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows
but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and
his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following
him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and
clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to
strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”
He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud
voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together
for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of
kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and
the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.”
19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies
gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and
his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet
who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had
deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped
its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake
of burning sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword coming
out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged
themselves on their flesh. (Rev. 19:11-21)
11 “Then I continued to watch because of the boastful words
the horn was speaking. I kept looking until the beast was slain
and its body destroyed and thrown into the blazing fire. 12 (The
other beasts had been stripped of their authority, but were allowed
to live for a period of time.)
13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was
one like a son of man,[a] coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached
the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given
authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of
every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion
that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never
              be destroyed.
21 As I watched, this horn was waging war against the holy people
and defeating them, 22 until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced
judgment in favor of the holy people of the Most High, and the time
came when they possessed the kingdom.
26 “‘But the court will sit, and his power will be
taken away and completely destroyed forever. 27 Then the sovereignty,
power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed
over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an
everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.’
28 “This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply
troubled by my thoughts, and my face turned pale, but I kept the
              matter to myself.” (Dan. 7:11-14,21- 22, 26-28)
They will be captured and thrown alive in the Lake of Fire.
19 I saw the Beast (Antichrist), the kings of the earth,
and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him (Jesus)...20
Then the Beast (Antichrist) was captured, and with him
the False Prophet...These two were cast alive into the lake of fire.
              (Rev. 19:19-20)
