Sister Marie HarperA Message from the Principal
I join with Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ, patron of Marian Academy , in her Magnificat by saying too,

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.
The Almighty has done great things for me,
Holy is His name.

Indeed the Lord has done great and marvelous things. As I look back over the past five years, it is with amazement that I marvel at God's great hand in planting this tiny mustard seed which has sprung into a great tree where all the birds of the air may come and rest. Marian Academy has grown from two hundred and twenty-seven pupils to six hundred and thirty-nine pupils in five years.

Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, SJ wrote in his poem titled 'Patient Trust'

Above all, trust in the slow work of God
We are quite naturally impatient in everything
To reach the end without delay.
We should like to skip the intermediate stages
We are impatient of being on the way to something
Unknown, something new.
And yet it is the law of all progress that it is made by
passing through
Some stages of instability-
And that it may take a very long time.

Many persons may have been impatient with our progress, as it seemed slow, but if Marian Academy were to have had a sure foundation, then we dare not skip any of the necessary stages. I have seen our ideas mature gradually and I am satisfied that we have reached this very important stage in our journey. I am privileged to have been the first Principal, but everything that has been achieved could not have been realized without the hard work of so many others. So my gratitude is extended to all those who helped in any way to make this dream a reality. The seed has been planted and has sprouted into a large tree, but the tree must be nurtured, watered and pruned, in order to produce good fruits at all times. It is necessary to remember the words of Fr. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, SJ, from whose poem I quoted above:

Give our Lord the benefit of Believing
That his hand is leading you, and accept
The anxiety of feeling yourself
In suspense and incomplete.

The foundation has been laid, the pillars set up, but the work is incomplete.
As Saint Angela Merici says:

Persevere faithfully and joyfully in the work begun.
