Rev. Kasundra Brown Corbin

Rev. Kasundra Brown-CorbinRev. Kasundra Brown-Corbin is the mother of four sons, Carl Joshua, Noel and Richard (R.D.). She is a native of Dallas, Texas and moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1981 to attend Berklee College of Music where she studied Music Production and Audio Engineering. She has also studied theology at Gordon Conwell Center for Urban Ministerial Education. Occupationally, she is a Special Project Coordinator for American Family Life Assurance Company of Columbus (AFLAC), a position she has held since April of 2005.

Although called to preach at the age of 13, Rev. Brown-Corbin did not fully accept her call until the age of twenty-five. Raised in predominantly white, fundamentalist, non-denominational churches, the thought of a woman preaching was unacceptable. During her teenage years, Rev. Brown-Corbin’s family moved to an African-American, non-denominational church, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, where women were allowed and encouraged to pray publicly and participate in the worship service. It was there, under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Anthony Evans, that she first evidenced a gift for intercessory prayer, which she freely exercised.

The Western Avenue Baptist Church of Cambridge, MA licensed Rev. Brown-Corbin, under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Robert A. F. Turner. For over seven years, she served as an Associate Pastor under both Rev. Dr. Turner and its Pastor Emeritus, Rev. Edmund D. Henley, Sr. She also served as the Permanent Pulpit Supply Minister for the New Hope Community Baptist Church in Hyannis, MA and as the Assistant Pastor of the Restoration Community Baptist Church of Brockton, MA under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Ronnie M. Griffin. In May of 2005, Rev. Brown-Corbin was ordained and installed into the pastorate of the New Bethel Baptist Church, Framingham, MA after serving as their Pulpit Supply Preacher since February of 2003. She is excited about this new dimension of her ministry and looks forward to the great things God has planned for her and the congregation. As always, she continues to guest preach as the Lord gives opportunity.

Rev. Brown-Corbin is most thrilled about the fact that, in addition to the great work that God allows her to do in being a mother and an insurance sales manager; He has also called her to preach; and that she does with humor, passion and excitement. Her goals can be summed up easily with the words; “I want to be a good mother to my sons, a good sister to the saints and a good example to the community. If I do all these, then I will have been a good servant to the Lord.”
