George Tasker "I had spent the whole of my working life with one of the big five
UK accountancy firms from 3rd Office Boy (that's as low as you get) to
Senior Trust Manager, having transferred to the Trust Department in about
1960.
STEP Members come from the legal, accountancy, corporate trust, banking, insurance and related professions, and are involved at all levels in the planning, creation and management of, and accounting for, trusts and estates, executorship, administration and related taxes. Full Members of STEP are by definition the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates. STEP members are obliged to undertake continuing professional development (CPD). On the other hand, for example, general practice solicitors are no longer required to sit any detailed exams dealing with wills, estates or probate. Unfortunately some general practice solicitors who offer will writing services provide poor standards of service, uninfluenced by the latest developments. For complex matters, peace of mind can only be guaranteed by using properly qualified professionals, as errors can be expensive to remedy, particularly if, for example, a family has to go to court to resolve disputes.
