Session #7 Biblical Trends Related to Gentile Nations
            I. TREND #1: AN URGENT CRY FOR WORLD PEACE AND SAFETY
            A. The increased crisis during the beginning of birth pains
4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5
For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’
and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars,
but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen,
but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes
in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
              (Mt. 24:4-8)
3When they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction
[Great Tribulation] comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant
woman. They shall not escape. (1 Thes. 5:3)
            C. The Antichrist will establish peace by making a seven-year
              covenant with many nations.
27 Finish this daughter’s bridal week; then we will give
you the younger one also, in return for another seven years of work.”
28 And Jacob did so. He finished the week with Leah, and then Laban
gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife. (Gen. 29:27-28)
27“He [Antichrist] shall confirm a covenant
[peace treaty] with many for one week [7 years].”
              (Dan. 9:27)
2 At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. (Dan.
              10:2)
            II. TREND # 2: ONE-WORLD GOVERNMENT—A NEW WORLD ORDER
            B. The tension in the financial markets without global rule of
              law. (Rev. 17-18)
             D. The Antichrist will possess unusual diplomatic skills

3All the world marveled and followed the Beast [Antichrist]…4saying,
“Who is like the Beast? Who is able to make war with him?”…7Authority
was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation…8All who
dwell on the earth will worship him. (Rev. 13:3-4, 7-8)
III. TREND #3: THE RISE OF A 10-NATION SUPERSTATE
            A. Scripture prophesies a 10-nation superstate.
12“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings…they receive
authority…with the beast [Antichrist]. 13These are of one
mind, and they will give their…authority to the beast.”

              (Rev. 17:12-13)
            B. This 10-nation confederation will result in one man,
              the Antichrist.
41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked
clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet
it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw
iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly
clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle.
43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people
will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron
              mixes with clay.
44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set
up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to
another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them
to an end, but it will itself endure forever. (Dan. 2:41-44)
7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there
before me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and
very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured
its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different
from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
20 I also wanted to know about the ten horns on its head and about
the other horn that came up, before which three of them fell—the
horn that looked more imposing than the others and that had eyes
and a mouth that spoke boastfully.
24 The ten horns are ten kings who will come from this kingdom.
              After them another king will arise, different from the earlier ones;
he will subdue three kings. 25 He will speak against the Most High
and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and
the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a
time, times and half a time.
               (Dan. 7:7, 20, 24-25)
26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will
be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who
will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will
come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations
have been decreed. 27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one
‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven he will put
an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple[j] he will set
up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is
decreed is poured out on him. (Dan. 9:26-27)
3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon
with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads.
              (Rev. 12:3)
The dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming
out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns
on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. (Rev.
              13:1)
3 Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness.
There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered
with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns.
7 Then the angel said to me: “Why are you astonished? I will
explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides,
which has the seven heads and ten horns.
12 “The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet
received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority
as kings along with the beast.
16 The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute.
They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her
flesh and burn her with fire. (Rev. 17:3, 7, 12, 16)
            C. Ezekiel identified 8 of the 10 nations using the ancient
              names of 5 nations
2Set your face against Gog [Antichrist], of the land of
Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech [western Russia], and Tubal [central
Russia], and prophesy against him, 3and say…“I
am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh…5Persia, Ethiopia,
and Libya are with them…6Gomer and all its troops; the house
of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops.” (Ezek.
              38:2-6)
            D. Daniel prophesied about the Antichrist’s empire - referred
              to as “beast empires”—
In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream,
and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote
down the substance of his dream.
2 Daniel said: “In my vision at night I looked, and there
before me were the four winds of heaven churning up the great sea.
3 Four great beasts, each different from the others, came up out
              of the sea.
4 “The first was like a lion, and it had the wings of an eagle.
I watched until its wings were torn off and it was lifted from the
ground so that it stood on two feet like a human being, and the
mind of a human was given to it.
5 “And there before me was a second beast, which looked like
a bear. It was raised up on one of its sides, and it had three ribs
in its mouth between its teeth. It was told, ‘Get up and eat
              your fill of flesh!’
6 “After that, I looked, and there before me was another beast,
one that looked like a leopard. And on its back it had four wings
like those of a bird. This beast had four heads, and it was given
              authority to rule.
7 “After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before
me was a fourth beast—terrifying and frightening and very
powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims
and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from
all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
8 “While I was thinking about the horns, there before me was
another horn, a little one, which came up among them; and three
of the first horns were uprooted before it. This horn had eyes like
the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully. (Dan.
              7:1-8)
The Antichrist’s kingdom will incorporate the sin
of all four of these ancient kingdoms.
2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those
of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast
his power and his throne and great authority.
               (Rev. 13:2)
            E. Daniel prophesied two distinct stages in the Roman Empire—
23 “He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast
is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different
from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling
it down and crushing it. 24 The ten horns are ten kings who will
come from this kingdom. After them another king will arise, different
from the earlier ones; he will subdue three kings. (Dan.
              7:23-24)
IV. TREND #4: THE RISE OF ASIA
            A. John saw a vision of Asian kings from the East.
12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates,
and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the
east might be prepared. 13I saw three unclean spirits…coming
out of the mouth of the dragon [Satan],…the Beast [Antichrist],
and…the false prophet. 14They are spirits of demons, performing
signs, which go out to the kings of the earth…to gather them
to the battle of that great day…16to the place called…Armageddon.
              (Rev. 16:12-16)
            B. The Antichrist will hear troubling news from Asian kings
              resisting him.
44But news from the east[Asia] and the north shall trouble him
              [Antichrist]. (Dan. 11:44)
            V. TREND #5: THE RISE OF RUSSIA
            A. Ezekiel identified the three primary nations who will
              serve under the Antichrist
2Set your face against Gog [Antichrist], of the land of
Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech [western Russia], and
Tubal [central Russia], and prophesy against him, 3and
say, “Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I am against
you, O Gog…8In the latter years you will come into the land
of those…gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel…15Then
you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many
peoples with you…a mighty army. (Ezek. 38:2-15)
VI. TREND #6: THE RISE OF EGYPT (SPIRITUALLY)
            A. The Holy Spirit will work in an unusual way in five
cities in Egypt before Jesus returns.
18In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will…swear
by the LORD of hosts… (Isa. 19:18)
            B. Prayer ministries will be established in Egypt
20In the land of Egypt…they will cry to the LORD because
of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and…He will
deliver them. 21Then the LORD will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians
will know the LORD…22The LORD…will be entreated by them
              and heal them. (Isa. 19:20-22)
The grace of prayer, leading to a great revival and deliverance
              from the Antichrist.
42 He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not
escape. 43 He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver
and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Cushites in submission.
              (Dan. 11:42-43)
VII. TREND #7: REBUILDING THE CITY OF BABYLON
            A. The ancient city of Babylon on the Euphrates River in
              Iraq will be rebuilt.
19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the
nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her
the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. (Rev.
              16:19)
5 The name written on her forehead was a mystery:
            BABYLON THE GREAT
              THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (Rev. 17:5)
2 With a mighty voice he shouted:
“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!
She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
10 Terrified at her torment, they will stand far off and cry:
“‘Woe! Woe to you, great city,
              you mighty city of Babylon!
In one hour your doom has come!’
21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large
millstone and threw it into the sea, and said:
              “With such violence
the great city of Babylon will be thrown down,
never to be found again." (Rev. 18:2, 10, 21)
10…that great city Babylon, that mighty city! In one hour
your judgment has come. (Rev. 18:10)
            B. Jeremiah’s prophecy that judgment would suddenly,
              completely, and permanently destroy Babylon
13 Because of the LORD’s anger she will not be inhabited
              but will be completely desolate.
              All who pass Babylon will be appalled;
they will scoff because of all her wounds. (Jer. 50:13)
8 Babylon will suddenly fall and be broken.
              Wail over her!
Get balm for her pain; perhaps she can be healed.
9 “‘We would have healed Babylon, but she cannot be
              healed;
let us leave her and each go to our own land, for her judgment reaches
              to the skies,
it rises as high as the heavens.’
64 Then say, ‘So will Babylon sink to rise no more because
of the disaster I will bring on her. And her people will fall.’”
              (Jer. 51:8-9, 64a)
21With violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and
shall not be found anymore. (Rev. 18:21)
3“For out of the north a nation comes up against her, which
shall make her land desolate, and no one shall dwell therein…4In
those days…the children of Israel shall come…with continual
weeping they shall come, and seek the LORD…13Because of the
wrath of the LORD she shall not be inhabited, but she shall be wholly
              desolate…23How Babylon has become a desolation…26Come
against her…and destroy her utterly; let nothing of her be
left…39It shall be inhabited no more forever, nor shall it
be dwelt in from generation to generation. 40As God overthrew Sodom
and Gomorrah…says the LORD, “So no one shall reside
              there.” (Jer. 50:3-4, 13, 23, 26, 39-40)
26“But you shall be desolate forever…37Babylon shall
              become a heap…without an inhabitant… 43Her cities are
a desolation…a land where no one dwells…49As Babylon
has caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon the slain
of all the earth shall fall…64Thus Babylon shall sink and
not rise from the catastrophe that I will bring upon her.”
              (Jer. 51:26, 37, 43, 49, 64)
