Honduras - Child Sponsorship Program

United Caribbean Trust has establised a child sponsorship program in Haiti. We feel burdened to extend this ministry into Hondurus.

1. The first 1/3rd of the fees will go to the Child Educational Program to assist with the school fees, uniform, shoes, books etc.
2. The next 1/3rd will be invested into an Orphan Feeding Program establishing an educational argo project and small chicken farm. US $30 will be invested into a BioSand Water Filter to provide clean water for the orphanage, the school, the church and the Mission House of Prayer.
3. The last 1/3rd will go towards funding the After School Club. This will include a child music educational, character building evangelical teaching program.

United Caribbean Trust is committed to helping to supply Biosand Water Filters to families within our child sponsorship program.

How it Works:

Contaminated water is poured into the top of the filter, and virtually all of the bad organisms or pathogens are removed in the top two inches of the filter. The layers of sand remove suspended solids and most micro-organisms.

The Result: Clean, fresh water flows out of the filter using only gravity.

The Benefits: Childhood diseases due to contaminated drinking water are ended.

The founder of UCT, Jenny Tryhane and UCT Early Childhood Co-Ordinator, Paulette Scantlebury, travelled to Haiti mid May and again in December and delivered and distributed the Make Jesus Smile shoe boxes.

These boxes are used to introduce the Child Sponsorship Program. As the child receives the box and is photographed, information is obtained and a web page is created for that child and the potential is establised to be sponsored and have a life changing experience. We have boxes packed by the children of Barbados for children in the school at Ocote in Hondurus.

In Honduras, there is a high incidence of abuse being
suffered by the children. One fourth of the children arriving at the nutrition center have suffered sexual abuse these children are all under 5 years of age. < Read more >
