CARIBBEAN TRUST- uniting through sports - netball
It is projected to be years before Grenada’s economy gets back
on its feet and as a result the level of poverty has risen dramatically
and it is expected that the homeless will have no way of generating an
income to buy supplies and rebuild their homes. The situation in Guyana
is one of grave concern.
UCT the distribution arm of 'Baby Survival
Kits' is seeking active fundraising. These kits are intended to reach
many desperate mothers quickly, the supplies are in small quantities that
would only provide approximately one weeks worth of consumables such as
formula and diapers, among the longer-term hardware such as linens and
feeding bottles etc. Ideally, once the initial need has been met, ‘BSK’
would like to deliver “follow up kits” to replenish just the
consumable supplies on a twice monthly basis.
It is the intention of UCT to promote and encourage youth sports as
a way of fund raising and character building. Netball is a sporting option
and Netball holidays will become a part of our school twinning program
and holiday fund raising exercise.
Below news flashes from the Nation news
National Sports Council’s primary schools’
netball and football competitions
The striking combination of red, black and white made Half Moon Fort
Primary the only choice for the best teams on parade yesterday.
They took the top prizes when the National Sports Council’s primary
schools’ netball and football competitions held at Waterford.
They were uniform right down to the shoes and socks and the black and
red ribbons worn by the girls.
The girls then beat defending champions Lawrence T Gay 10-4 for the
Aileen Jeffers Moore Trophy to make the return trip to school a very
happy one.
This Empowerment programme has been designed to create, establish
and encourage, linkages between the schools of Grenada and Barbados,
expanding exponentially to enjoy the camaraderie resulting from
a global network.
Designed to encourage learning through play, foster cooperation
and strengthen friendships through planned & supervised activities.
