THE LOSS SHEEP

Matthew 18: 12b - 14

"If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.

What does this parable tell us about God’s attitude towards us?

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2: 10

What does this tell us God has done for each of us?

GOD’S PROMISES
To know God better, find the promise in each of the following Bible verses.

A. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD trust in him and he will do this: Psalm 37: 4 - 5

B. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3: 5 – 6

C. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29: 13

Consider the future events of your life. How can these promises affect how you prepare for the future?

__________________________________________________________

What kind of plans does God have for your future?

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
Jeremiah 29: 11

Because God knows you as an individual He has expressed His great love for you by doing what you could not do for yourself.

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5: 6 – 9

When we surrender our lives to our Omnipotent (all-powerful) God, why can we have complete confidence that we are safe in His hands?

Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
Psalm 147: 5

Write you own prayer to God, expressing how thankful you are that He knows all things. Remember that you will not be asked to share this prayer at the Bible study or at school.

"Five Finger Prayer."

First, I want you to put your hands together in front of you as if you are praying. Keep your eyes open so that you can see your hands. You will notice that the closest finger to you is the thumb.

Since it is the closest to you, the thumb reminds you to pray for those that are closest to you. Pray for your parents and your brothers or sisters.

The next finger is called your index finger. It is used for pointing. Let this finger remind you to pray for those that point you in the right direction. Pray for your teachers at school, your Sunday School teacher, helpers including your pastor.

The next finger is the tallest finger. This finger reminds us to pray for our leaders. Pray for the president and other leaders in our government and those who are leaders in our village, town or school.

The fourth finger is the called the ring finger. Did you know that this is the weakest of all the fingers? Just ask any one who plays the piano and they will tell you that is true. Let this finger remind you to pray for those who are sick, week and in need.

The next finger is the smallest finger. The Bible says, "Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought." Let the little finger remind you to pray for yourself.

So the next time you are talking to God, and you can't think of anything to say, let the "Five Finger Prayer" help you.

The Prayer of Faith

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5: 13 – 16

The 5 W's of prayer.

Who should pray? Anyone! These verses tell us that anyone who needs God's help should pray -- and that is all of us.
What should we pray about? Anything! We should pray for healing when we are sick and for forgiveness from sin. We should offer prayers of thanks when we are happy, and ask for help in times of trouble.
When should we pray? Anytime! If we should pray when we are in trouble, when we are sick, when we are happy that’s any time, isn't it?
Where should we pray? Anywhere! We should pray anywhere we are, because wherever we are, God is there!
Why should we pray? Because God answers prayer!

Dear Lord, we thank you for prayer. Help me to remember the Five Finger Prayer and the 5W’s as I lift up those that need prayer - those that are closest to you me, my parents or guardian, friends and family. Help me to pray for my teachers at school, my Sunday School teacher and my pastor. May I always remember to pray for the president and other leaders in our government and those who are leaders in our town or village. Help me to remember to pray for those who are sick, weak and in need. Lastly Father I pray for myself and my needs, remembering that you know what I need before I even ask. Thank you in Jesus name.
Amen
