Overall Review: What have we learned so far?

In the first lesson, we learned that Jesus has many names and titles and did amazing things. His disciples realized He was not just an ordinary man. Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!" Simon Peter confirmed "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."

Which of His names is the most meaningful to you today? . . . . .

Several of His names remind us that He and God are one. We already have found two of those names. Do you remember them? They are found in Isaiah 9:6. . . . .

6  For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

In Lesson 2 we learnt that the four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—make up almost one half of the New Testament. They contain our main source of information about Jesus.

Other powerful evidences about the accuracy of the Bible are seen through Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in the New Testament. The Old Testament contains several hundred distinct predictions concerning the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ.

In Lesson 3, we learnt that Jesus was " the light of the world." He was identified as the Son of God by the uniqueness of what He said about Himself and what others said about Him. We realized the power and completeness of Jesus’ teaching and prophecies, which reveal that He is God.

In Lesson 4 we learnt about His Parables, and His Prophecies.

One of the benefits of using parables in teaching is that it presents powerful truths in an interesting way, which does not immediately overwhelm the listeners the main one in Lesson #4 was the 'Parable of the Sower'

Lesson 5 enabled us to review through the 'Weekly Bible Verses' seven parables of Jesus.

The purpose of this lesson was to:

Realize the influence of Jesus’ moral character, His teaching, His power over all natural and physical forces, and His influence on history—all of which reveals that He is God Himself.
• Recognize that work is a blessing.

In this lesson we saw Jesus perform miracles. He turned water into wine, healed those who were sick with fever and leprocy, cast out demons. Day after day He looked with compassion upon hurting people and He supplied their needs.

In Lesson 6 we leant how He raised the dead, cast out demons, healed the blind and the deaf, He walked on water and miraculously fed thousands of people.

In the last lesson we learnt that Jesus saw the multitude of people who came to Him with all of their needs. He reached out to them with compassion and stopped to speak to them. He lovingly and gently met them right where they were. He did not spare Himself in serving them.

Jesus had workingman’s hands while He lived on earth. Honest work, contributing to mankind, is honorable work. Work is elevated by the fact that as a young man, Jesus worked in Nazareth, where He lived with His family. His life, His words, and His works were all approved by God.

c. Teach the lesson

Why Did Jesus Come?

Purpose of the Lesson
• Realize that the consequence of sin is death.
• Recognize man’s inability to pay his own sin debt.
• Learn why Jesus left heaven’s glory to come to this sinful earth.
• Realize the significance of Jesus’ death on the cross.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for all You have taught us about Your Son, Jesus Christ. We want to know why He came to earth. Teach us from Your Word again. We pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

In this lesson, we will learn why Jesus came to earth. He did not come to preach great sermons or to heal people. Why did He come? The Bible passages in Question 1 give us eight reasons why He came.

1. Why did Jesus come to earth? The Bible readings below give several reasons.

a. Matthew 5:17. . . . .

17  "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill".

(To make God’s teachings come true)

b. John 1:17-18. . . . .

17  For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18  No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

(To reveal God to people)

c. Matthew 20:28 . . . . .

"Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

(to serve and give His life to redeem people)

d. Luke 4:42-43. . . . .

42  Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; 43  but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."

(To preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God)

e. Luke 19:10. . . . .

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

(To seek and save the lost)

f. John 3:17. . . . .

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

(to be the world’s Savior)

g. John 10:7-10. . . . .

7  Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8  All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9  I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10  The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly".

Note verse 10. (To give believers life in all its fullness)

h. 1 Timothy 1:15. . . . .

15  This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

(To save sinners)

Very important! If someone asks how to become a Christian, you should be prepared to answer. You may explain the plan of salvation in a natural way, without embarrassing anyone. Provide an opportunity for the person to pray to receive Christ.

In this lesson they will learn all the dramas, games and skits that are needed to perform this vibrant children's community outreach.

Share your Faith

Here are some useful tools that will help your children share their faith.

6. APPLICATION / ENCOUNTERING GOD:

If you are a Christian this is just a reminder you can say this prayer again. But if you have never given your life to Christ Jesus then this is your chance. Tell Him

Closing Prayer: " Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son Jesus, to show us the way and to die for our sins. I am sorry for the wrongs I have done, I am turning away from them and receiving your gift by faith. Today I thank you for forgiving me, I trust you to take care of me and help me have the power not to hate and not to fear. In Jesus Name Amen"

Weekly Bible Reading - LESSON #8

Print 'Weekly Bible Verse Readings', one for each youth to take home.

Read the Bible verses below and write in your own words the work Jesus was doing.

1. Matthew 5:1-2, 17-20

1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2  Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

17  "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18  For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19  Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20  For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

(Jesus said He came to make the Old Testament teachings come true)

2. John 6:35-38

35  And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36  But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37  All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. 38  For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

(Jesus came to do the Father's will)

3. Acts 2:22-24

22  "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know- 23  Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24  whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

(Jesus came to die and be resurrected. God planned that Jesus would lay down His lifE and be raised from the dead)

4. Hebrews 2:14-15

14  Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15  and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

(Christ's death destroyed the devil and death)

5. Revelation 3:20-21

20  Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21  To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

(Jesus is knocking at the door of people's hearts, so that He may give victory to those who will invite Him into thier lives)

6. Revelation 5:9-10

. 9  And they sang a new song, saying:

"You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10  And have made us kings and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth."

(Jesus' sacrificial death will bring people from every tribe, language, nation and race to serve God)

7. Revelation 5:11-14

11  Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12  saying with a loud voice:

"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"

13  And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

"Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"

14  Then the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

(He is in Heaven now preparing a place for us, where we will worship Him for all eternity)
